"Yoganoi, or good morning, how are you?"
"Eyalama, or thank you please, goodbye."
These are a few of the phrases that you will hear at any given moment in Uganda. We are learning to speak and adopting the Ugandan accent and it can be very fun, yes please?
Today we began with a training session in the morning filled with practice drills for the coaches to help them teach their girls more advanced skills. We then spent the rest of the day bouncing around from tournament games to other practice sessions. Today was the quarterfinals and the competition proved to be exciting. We were able to sit and talk with a lot of the girls and young kids that we have made friends with during the games. It has been great to get to know some of their stories and how God has worked in their lives.
Later that night we had another worship and teaching session with a dance competition. The energy was high in the meeting hall and we got to see more girls accept the love of Christ and ask Him into their lives.
Another part of this trip that we have enjoyed is getting to know our good friend Joseph (Yosef). He is in charge of most of the operations of TCON here in Soroti and elsewhere in Uganda. He is a funny guy and here he is bantering with Dave, the founder of TCON in 2004:
"There is nothing in the water, it is just ok. Dave is just so scared of everything in Uganda, you can't even believe he has lived here."
Thank you please!
