CORA

Hi my name is Cora Aversano. I play soccer and am studying biology at Colorado Christian University. I have always wanted to go on a mission trip to Africa and I thank God that he has given me this opportunity to go and share His word.

I am very excited about going to Uganda this summer. This will be the first time I have ever been out of the country and even though I am a little scared about that, I am also thrilled I get the chance to go. The thing I am most excited about is the chance to spread God’s word to others. He has been my rock and salvation and now I get to go to Africa and show how his works are amazing. We not only get to share God’s love but we also get to play soccer. God has given me love and passion for soccer, and now has given me the ability to use it to spread His word.  It is truly amazing that I have an opportunity to put the two things that I love most in life together to help others. I am eager to see how I can help others and bring them to Christ and also see how God will change my life on this trip.

In addition, I will be going on this trip with my sister, Carrie Aversano. I am blessed to be able to share this experience with her. She has been a light throughout my whole life and has shown me the woman of God that I want to be. I am so thankful that God has given me such an amazing person to look up to and now the chance to do missions work with her. This trip will not only bring us closer but also strengthen our relationship with God.

Thank you very much for the support and prayers. I appreciate everything that everyone has done in helping make this mission trip successful!

CHELSEA

I am incredibly excited to go on this trip! I have been wanting to go to Africa since at least first grade. I have a passion for experiencing other cultures as well as blessing them in any way that I can. I have been to El Salvador and Jamaica for mission trips, and had amazing experiences interacting with the people. There are so many things that one could hope to get out of a trip like this, but I am determined to keep my mindset like that of Jesus Christ, "not my will, but Yours be done." I know that we are doing as much planning as possible for this trip, but my desire is that once we are set and ready to go, that we would follow wherever the wind of the Holy Spirit wants to take us, because as much as we plan and prepare, there's no telling exactly what is going to happen and what God will accomplish. Our job as God's followers is to surrender ourselves to His will with wild abandon, and that is exactly what I plan on doing, not just with this trip, but my whole life!

MATT

I am a 25 year old student from Denver, Colorado.  I have a younger brother who works for 9News, a younger sister that attends CU, and we love having fun together.  I have spent the last decade touring colleges in Colorado and I have found that each one offers a unique experience.  Currently I’m at Colorado School of Mines pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree.  Most of my life revolves around my family, friends, sports, camping, and volunteer activities at Red Rocks Church and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I try to hang out with kids as much as possible because I think it’s important to show them people care about them.  Our upcoming trip to Uganda will be my first mission trip and I cannot wait to serve alongside my friends in hopes of sharing God’s love.

ANDREW

Hi, my name is Andrew and I like long walks on the beach and a glass of wine while watching the sunset......JK....

Hi, my name is Andrew and I live in Denver and attend Red Rocks Church!  I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities as well as competitive sports, which is a big reason why I enjoy participating in the sports and outdoor ministries at Red Rocks Church.  I am currently in the middle of a career transition, looking to become a firefighter and possibly do some real estate on the side.  I recently have become EMT certified as part of my training in hopes to become a firefighter and enjoy learning the many new things that come along with a career transition!  Other hobbies of mine are volunteering with service projects and outreaches, developing my relationship with God, and figuring out how God wants to use me in this world!
I am excited for our trip to Uganda for a couple of reasons.  Sometimes I wonder what are the best ways to obey God's call for us to help and care for the poor.  I feel like this trip will be a great way to do those things as well as show the people of Uganda a glimpse of what God's love means.  I have been on one other mission trip to Mexico around 15 years ago, at which point I did not have much of a relationship with God and did not understand the opportunity that I had to witness to the people we were serving.  For our trip in May, I am very excited for the ways that God will work in the lives of the people we serve in Uganda, and also what He will do in the lives of us on the team during that period!

DANIELLE

Hi. My name is Danielle Gershon and I am a sophomore at Colorado Christian University.  I’m studying psychology, but still have yet to decide what I want to be when I grow up.  I love to be around people and to help out others in any way possible and that is one of the main reasons I have a desire to go to Uganda.  My hope is that God would rock my world through their culture and lifestyle.
I’m really excited that we are going to Uganda to create a soccer camp for young girls.  I have been passionate about soccer since I was a young girl and I now play for CCU.  This has been such a crazy journey, but I am extremely blessed to have this athletic ability.  There is always a feeling of freedom when I play soccer and it becomes my outlet to the stresses of life. My love for the game and healing from the Father has allowed me to go through three knee injuries and still be able to play!  I’m looking forward to seeing these Ugandan girls experience the same freedom and life through a game that they love.  This is something that they will be able to look forward to every year.  My hope is that this will become a tool to help share the gospel of Jesus Christ, another passion in my life.
My hope and prayer for this trip is that we can spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to Uganda, to people just like you and I, created in God’s image who are treasured and loved by our Father in Heaven.  My prayer is not that they will just hear the Gospel, but that their eyes will be open to the gravity of what it means to have our sins washed away in God’s sight, to have our dead souls lifted up into new life, to be redeemed.  I pray that through our ministry, they will experience love, freedom and life transformation like never before!
I am very excited for this trip and I’m looking forward to all that God has in store for us.  I know that the will do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, for His glory!  (Eph. 3:20, 21)
Thank you for your financial support and prayers.  It means the world to me!!!
